kyanite.....

hardness: 5.0-7.0

geography: kyanite is found in north carolina, virginia, georgia, kenya, zimbabwe, brazil, switzerland, and austria.

properties: kyanite crystallizes into twisted fibrous masses and long bladed crystals that are either twisted or straight. it's color ranges from grey, black, and blue with white, green, yellow, and pink.

powers: kyanite facilitates meditation and aligns all chakras immediately.  it brings tranquility and calmness to the whole being.  kyanite dispels anger and frustration and produces compassion in communication and decision making.  it does not retrain or accumulate negative energy, therefore it does not ever need to be cleansed.

history:  kyanite is named after the slavic word for 'hard'. it can also be spelled cyanite and is known in some countries as disthene.

medicinal: kyanite can be used in the treatment of disorders of the muscular system, adrenal glands, throat, parathyroid glands, and brain.



 
labradorite....

hardness: 5.0-6.0

geography: labrador and finland are primary source of iridescent labradorite, while transparent, facetable labradorite is found on mexico, utah, oregon, california, and nevada.]

properties: labradorite is a type of feldspar. its iridescent colors result from from the light that scatters in it's layers. its layers are formed when a second feldspar develops from a  single feldspar as it is cooling.

powers: labradorite provides understanding of the destiny one has chosen.  it transforms intuition into intellectual thought.  labradorite also relieves insecurities  and apprehension while enhancing faith and reliance in oneself.

history:  the red paint people of maine made decorative use of labradorite before the 1000. it was "found" by the moravian missionaries in 1770 in labrador, for which it is named.

medicinal:  labradorite is used in the treatment of disorders of the brain, it stimulates mental acuity and reduces anxiety and stress. labradorite can also assist in digestion and metabolism.



lapis.....

hardness: 5.0-5.5

geography:  found in afghanistan, chile, russia, colorado, and california.

properties: lapis is a combination of minerals, primarily calcite and lazurite.  afghanistan lapis may also contain pyrite.

powers:  lapis is a stone of awareness expanding intellectual capacity. it assists in organizationn in ones life and in the routine day-to-day activities. it helps one overcome depression and enhances the states of serenity and self-acceptance. lapis has also been used as a protective stone sheltering one from danger and psychic attacks.

history: lapis was carved into beads, scarabs, and pendants in egypt before 3100 b.c.  it was ground into powder and used as medicine as well as the first eye shadow.

medicinal:  lapis can be used in the treatment of disorders of the throat, bone marrow, thymus and immune system.  it can help relieve symptoms of insomnia, vertigo, and dizziness.
